Intern

I had my first intern last semester and I couldn’t have asked for a better person.  Stephanie, thankfully, accepted the fact that she was our guinea pig.  Not necessarily an intern guinea pig but this was our first time coordinating room and board with campus.  We learned things for next time and hopefully we’ll be able to make it a little more of a smooth transition.  Overall, Stephanie was a champ and didn’t let too much get under her skin.  She was a hard worker, accepted any challenge and contributed fantastic ideas.  Without Stephanie, Saddle Up would not have been the amazing show it turned out to be, Arte en la Charreria would have made me go crazy, Christmas would not have gotten done as fast, the quick road trips we had would not have been the same and daily work would not have been as pleasant.  I miss her already this semester and wish her luck in her job search.  I know whoever hires her will be very lucky to have her.

If you are interested in applying for an internship at the Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame please visit the education page of our website.  The main internship available is a Curatorial Internship where you will be cataloging artifacts and working on exhibits, but we can help you customize an internship for your interests:  education, marketing, oral histories, etc.  The wonderful thing about working at a small museum is that you do get a chance to focus on one thing but you’ll really learn about all aspects of museum-ing as we help the other departments with events, education, setup or what have you.  Again, check out our website or get in touch with us if you have any questions.
