Our newest exhibit is set to open this Thursday, January 23 at 5:30pm. I don't know how many people will come to the opening but I'm thinking it will be a pretty good turnout with dinosaurs. What is warming my heart, however, is the excitement I'm hearing concerning the exhibit in general. Adults and kids are both excited! I've been trying to make a pretty big deal about this exhibit on Facebook and there's been some great responses. That is so awesome to hear!!! If you're really excited about something that means you're more likely to follow through and actually do it. There will still be people, come May 2, who ask if the exhibit is still up and if they can still come and see it. But there's a better chance now of people coming to see it than if it was something they were just mildly interested in.
While it is fantastic to hear that people are excited to see this exhibit at my museum, it is equally fantastic to hear people excited to see any exhibit at any museum. Every time I go home to Chicago I drag someone to a museum there. Well, less of "drag" because honestly there's usually an exhibit that we are excited to see, Disney Archives, Lascaux Caves, Pompeii, and so much more. Check out your local museums or try to find one on your next vacation. You might be surprised what you find there.
AND today is #museumselfie day. So while you're visiting your favorite museum today take a self-portrait near your favorite artifact.
