Hello,
Recently I have been inputting images from 1920 - 1948. Something really cool about these images is that it talks about the Hobbs Arm Air Base and the planes that once would fly over head. The Museum is on part of the old Air Base, so seeing these images makes me smile.
For a moment step to of 2020 and go back to the 1940's, In the area where the museum is flying above you are planes. Planes called the "Flying Fortress" circle around South East New Mexico, practicing how to look at maps, how to bomb cities for the war.
I find these images fascinating. Most people don't know that when you are in Hobbs, you are visiting an old Army Air Base. A place where people from all walks of life came to learn things for the war. A place where bombardiers learned about their bombing equipment. A place of history.
These planes, no longer fly where we can see them daily. The remains of the Army Air Base in Hobbs, are large concrete slabs with weeds growing between the cracks. Most places I find these beauty's are Air and Space Museums or at Air shows scattered around the world.
