So Many Events, So Little Time

We have a lot of exciting events and exhibits coming up in the next few months. Here's a taste of what's to come:

Titanic Revealed
Tuesday, April 6, 2010 6:30pm-7:30pm

The University of the Southwest presents "Titanic Revealed" at the Western Heritage Museum Complex Theatre. This film was aired on the National Geographic Channel and features narration by Dr. Robert Ballard. Join Dr. Ballard as he returns to the site of the Titanic wreck almost 20 years after his historic discovery.

This film is shown as an accompaniment to the J.F Maddox Distinguished Lecture Series featuring Dr. Robert Ballard. Dr. Ballard will be speaking at the Tydings Auditorium at Hobbs High School on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 7pm. Tickets for the lecture are free. No tickets are required for the movie.

Docent Training Meeting

Monday, April 12, 2010 7pm

Come and learn what it takes to be a docent at the Museum. This meeting's topic: TBA. Just because you come does not mean that you are committed to anything. Being a docent is a commitment but it's all on your own time. For more information stop on by! Hope to see you then!!

Water Symposium

Thursday, April 29, 2010 1pm-5pm

In association with our Water's Extreme Journey exhibit and the 150th New Mexico History Conference, the Public is invited to participate in the "Symposium on the Use and Misuse of Water on the Llano Estacado Through Time" at the Western Heritage Museum Complex Theatre. District Wide Art Show – Elementary Students
May 8 – May 20, 2010

You won't want to miss the District Wide Art Show for Elementary Students Ribbon Winners.

The artwork will be on display at the Western Heritage Museum starting with a reception on May 8th, and remain on display through May 20th.

Come out and support our young artists from the Hobbs Municipal Schools.

4th Annual Community Photography Show

May 27 – June 11, 2010
This amateur photography show is open to the public, both students and adults. Photographers choose one or two of their favorite/best pictures to display in the Museum gallery. This show is juried and prizes are given to the winners. The Best of Show is the highest rating that one photo/photographer can receive and that photo will be displayed for one year in the Museum. Please check back as the date draws closer for more information on entering a photograph.

2009 Festival of Quilts

June 17 - July 17, 2010
Join us for the 2010 Festival of Quilts June 17 – July 17. The theme will be “Home on the Range.” Download the entry form and guidelines for the 2010 Festival. We look forward to seeing all the great work for the “Home on the Range” 2010 Festival of Quilts.
